Women’s Cell


The Women's Studies Cell is part of the Women’s Development Studies started by the U.G.C. Women’s cell of Sree Sankara College began with the intention of empowering and enabling women to see their own potential and carve out a place for themselves in a cutthroat world. The main objectives of the cell include enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence among women students and staff. 
The cell seeks to raise awareness and gives women a forum to express their opinions and experiences about their place in society as well as ideas for self-improvement and empowerment.
The college offers a number of programs aimed at raising student awareness of issues pertaining to women through lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and welfare activities. The Cell works to support students' growth by assisting them in resolving both academic and personal issues.
 
Objectives:
 
(i) To highlight the importance of health and hygiene.
(ii) To assert the importance of spiritual, economic, social, racial and gender equality.
(iii) To prevent sexual harassment and to promote general well-being of female students,
teaching and non-teaching women staff of the College.
(iv) To safeguard the rights of female students, faculty and staff members.

Entrepreneurship Development Cell


The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (ED Club) at Sree Sankara College is a dedicated initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills, innovation, and self-reliance among students.
The EDC serves as a platform to nurture aspiring entrepreneurs by providing them with the necessary guidance, resources, and industry exposure.
 
Objectives:
 
 To create awareness about entrepreneurship as a viable career option.
 To support students in developing business plans and startup ideas.
 To provide training programs, workshops, and seminars on business development and innovation.
 To facilitate mentorship by successful entrepreneurs and industry experts.
 
Activities:
 
1. Food Fest: COM CUISINE FIESTA – A Celebration of Culinary Entrepreneurship
 
The Food Fest is one of the flagship events organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Club, providing students with a platform to explore and experience the world of food business.
 
 Encourages students to set up food stalls, manage sales, and understand customer preferences.
 Provides hands-on experience in marketing, budgeting, and teamwork.
 Supports local food culture and innovation in culinary entrepreneurship.
 Attracts a large audience, fostering a real-world business environment.
 
The ED Club of Sree Sankara College, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, organized an exciting food festival titled "COM CUISINE FIESTA" on 06.11.2023. This vibrant event celebrated culinary diversity, entrepreneurship, and creativity, offering students a platform to showcase their gastronomic skills while exploring the business aspects of the food industry. The festival featured a wide array of traditional and contemporary delicacies, prepared and presented by students with an entrepreneurial spirit. It provided an opportunity to  experience flavors from different cultures, emphasizing the fusion of taste and commerce. Beyond being a feast for the senses, COM CUISINE FIESTA encouraged students to explore food business opportunities, marketing strategies, and financial management in a practical setting. With enthusiastic participation and an overwhelming response, the event not only delighted food
lovers but also fostered innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurial thinking, making it a truly enriching experience.
 
2. Industrial Visits – Learning from Industry Leaders
 
To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, the club arranges industrial visits to renowned companies and manufacturing units.
 
 Offers insights into production processes, supply chain management, and business operations.
 Provides networking opportunities with industry experts and entrepreneurs.
 Helps students understand market trends, challenges, and opportunities in various sectors.
 
The Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club of Sree Sankara College organized an insightful industrial visit to KINFRA International Apparel Parks Ltd, Menamkulam, Kazhakoottam, for 41
enthusiastic first-year B.Com students on 03.11.2023. This visit, aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world business practices, provided students with
firsthand exposure to the dynamic world of apparel manufacturing and industrial entrepreneurship. The industrial visit to KINFRA International Apparel Parks Ltd proved to be
an enriching experience, broadening students' understanding of industrial operations and entrepreneurship. It served as an inspiration for budding entrepreneurs, motivating them to
explore new business avenues and apply their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell


The Career&  Placement Cell of Sree Sankara College plays a pivotal role in guiding students toward successful career opportunities by bridging the gap between academia and industry. The
cell is committed to enhancing the employability skills of students, providing career counseling, and facilitating job placements in reputed organizations.

Objectives:
 
  •  To provide career guidance and counseling to students.
  • To conduct workshops, seminars, and training programs on resume building, interview skills, and corporate etiquette.

Science Club


The objective of Science club is to promote scientific literacy among students. Science club of Sree Sankara College celebrates National Science Day, Space Week etc. every year. It is a
vibrant platform dedicated to promoting scientific awareness, curiosity, and innovation among students. It aims to cultivate a scientific temperament by engaging students in various activities
that enhance their knowledge and practical skills in science and technology. Inorder to increase the awareness and understanding of scientific concepts, club organizes invited lectures, seminars, competitions among students, lab visits etc.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To foster curiosity and interest in scientific research and innovation.
  • To encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills through scientific exploration.
  • To organize seminars, workshops, and exhibitions on emerging scientific topics.
  • To promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices through science-driven initiatives.
  • To provide hands-on experience through experiments, field visits, and competitions.
 
Activities (2023-2024)
 
1. The Science Club of Sree Sankara College Kilimanoor, in collaboration with the Department of Physics and the IQAC, hosted a workshop in association with World Space Week
Celebrations,2023 on 04/12/2023. The event featured Dr. Anand Narayanan, a distinguished Professor from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), as the keynote
speaker.
 
2. ASTROQUEST -Probing Solar Activity organized by The Science Club of Sree Sankara College Kilimanoor, in association with the Department of Physics and IQAC in collaboration
with Shastra Snehi on 04/12/2023.
 
3. Students in the Science Club of Sree Sankara College visited the Global Science Fest 2024, an extraordinary event celebrating innovation, discovery, and scientific advancement at Bio 360 Life Sciences Park in Trivandrum on 05/02/2024.
 
4. The Science Club of Sree Sankara College Kilimanoor, organized an invited talk by Dr.Kavitha V S, Research Associate, Laser and Plasma Technology Division, BARC, Mumbai in
association National Science Day Celebration-2024, on 28/02/2024.

Planning Forum


The Planning Forum of Sree Sankara College is an academic initiative aimed at fostering analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and awareness of economic and social planning
among students. The forum serves as a platform for discussing developmental policies, governance, and sustainable growth, encouraging students to engage in research, debates, and
discussions on contemporary issues.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To create awareness about economic planning, policy-making, and governance.
  • To develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
  • To organize seminars, debates, and discussions on national and global planning issues.
  • To provide insights into economic development, financial management, and public policy.
 
Activities:
 
(i) The Planning Forum, in association with the Department of Economics, facilitated a live streaming session of the Union Budget 2024, coordinated by Jibin Francis, Assistant Professor,
Department of Economics, Sree Sankara College, on 01.02.2024 in the College Seminar Hall. The session fostered an engaging learning environment, enabling students to analyze key announcements, and understand the broader economic outlook of the nation. The live streaming proved to be an enriching experience, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world policy decisions.
 
(ii) The Planning Forum, in collaboration with the Department of Economics, organized an insightful discussion on the Kerala Budget 2024-25, featuring Anjana N. C., Research Scholar from the University of Kerala, as the distinguished speaker on 13.02.2024. The session delved into the key highlights of the budget, analyzing its implications on economic growth, social welfare, and fiscal sustainability. With keen expertise, the speaker unraveled the intricacies of policy decisions, shedding light on their potential impact on various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and employment. The discussion fostered a stimulating exchange of ideas, encouraging students and faculty to critically engage with the state’s economic vision. It was an intellectually enriching experience, offering a deeper understanding of the budgetary framework and its role in shaping Kerala’s development trajectory.

Electoral Literacy Club


The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of Sree Sankara College is a dedicated initiative aimed at educating students about the electoral process, democratic values, and the importance of
informed voting. The club plays a crucial role in creating awareness about electoral rights, responsibilities, and the significance of active participation in democracy.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To educate students about the electoral system, voter rights, and responsibilities.
  • To promote ethical and informed voting among young voters.
  • To organize awareness campaigns, workshops, and discussions on democracy and elections.
  • To encourage voter registration among eligible students.
Activities: 
 
The Electoral Literacy Club of Sree Sankara College, in association with the Chirayinkeezhu Taluk Election Department, organized an awareness session as part of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 initiative on 01.02.2024. The session aimed to educate students on the importance of voting, electoral procedures, and democratic participation. The event featured an election  awareness class led by Muhammed Rafi, who provided valuable insights into the electoral process. To enhance practical understanding, a model voting demonstration was conducted with the help of Vote vandi, allowing participants to experience the process of casting votes. The session was presided over by Dr. Remya P. D., Principal in charge, while Club Coordinator Bharath Sabu T delivered the welcome address. Through this initiative, the Electoral Literacy Club reinforced the significance of informed voting and active civic engagement, empowering students to become responsible participants in the democratic process.

Gandhian Studies Cell


The Gandhian Studies Cell serves as both an academic and extracurricular hub, dedicated to exploring the life, philosophy, and enduring impact of Mahatma Gandhi. It provides students with
opportunities to engage deeply with his teachings and understand their relevance in addressing contemporary issues.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To create awareness about Gandhian philosophy and its application in modern times.
  • To encourage students to adopt values of non-violence, peace, and ethical leadership.
  • To promote community service, rural development, and environmental sustainability in line with Gandhian ideals.
 
Activities:
 
During the academic year 2023-24, the Cell organized several meaningful activities that reflected Gandhian principles:
  • An Independence Day Quiz Competition held on August 14, 2023, to promote awareness of India’s freedom struggle and Gandhi’s contributions.
  • A Campus Cleaning Program on October 3, 2023, reinforcing the values of cleanliness and community service.
  • A visit to Chakkulathamma Sanjeevani Ashram, Kilimanoor, on October 19, 2023, where students interacted with and extended their support to the elderly residents.
Through these initiatives, the Gandhian Studies Cell continues to inspire students to embody the principles of truth, non-violence, and service to society.

Literary & Book Club (LITOME)


LITOME (aka The Literary Club and The Book Club) of Sree Sankara College, Kilimanoor organised offline and online programmes to encourage students to read books and to ignite their
literary interests.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To cultivate a reading culture among students.
  • To encourage creative writing, poetry, and storytelling.
  • To organize book discussions, literary competitions, and author interactions.
  • To enhance language skills, critical thinking, and literary appreciation.
  • To provide a platform for students to express their ideas and creativity through literature.
 
Activities:
 
On September 5, 2023 Litome observed Teachers’ Day by conducting Teaching Competition and Teachers’ Day Greeting Card Designing Competition at the college library. Thirty Students
participated in the competitions. However, students from the Department of Commerce achieved a sweeping victory over others. Miss Gopika R.S., S1 BCom and Miss Pranava O., S5 BCom bagged the First and Second Prize in the Teaching Competition respectively. Miss Sreelekshmi A.B.’s (S1 BCom) design got First Prize in the Teachers’ Day Greeting Card Designing
Competition whereas
 
Miss Gouri Prakash (S1 BCom) and Miss Gopika R.S. (S1 BCom) designs got Second Prize in the competition.
 
National Library Week – from 14 November 2023 to 20 November 2023: Litome organised a series of lectures, both offline and online, in connection with the National Library Week.
 
  • Mr Banna Chennamangalloor inaugurated the lecture series on 14 November 2023 by delivering the first lecture via Google Meet. The online session which started at 10 AM was presented at the college library through overhead projector. Mr Benna’s thoughts on bookish and practical knowledge were quite interesting. Though a Higher Secondary Teacher, he is well known for his artistic endeavours such as reading stories, dubbing, acting, directing, anchoring etc.
  • Ms Neethu T.A., Librarian, Sree Sankara College gave the second lecture (offline) of the National Library Week Lecture Series on 15 September 2023. She explained her thoughts on the health benefits of reading books.
  • Dr Ratheesh Krishna, an eminent dramaturge, performer and visual arts trainer delivered the third lecture in the series on 16 September 2023. Dr Ratheesh Krishna’s views on the experience one gets from reading a book were unique. The audience, including the members of Litome, curiously engaged in the online session led by Dr. Ratheesh.
  • Mr Rakesh K. Nair, Senior Editor, Mathrubhumi presented the fourth lecture via Google Meet on 17 September 2023. He focussed his talk on the importance of reding newspapers.
  • Dr K. Radhakumari, Associate Professor and Head (Retd.), Dept of English, VTMNSS College, Dhanuvachapuram presented the fifth lecture in the series through Google Meet on 20 September 2023. The veteran lecturer shared her views on book reading to the students.
  • Ms Indulekshmi B., Joint Coordinator, Litome delivered the sixth and final talk of the series on 20 September 2023. She explained different ways of reading different genres of books.Further, she interacted with the students to clear their doubts and concluded the offline session with valedictory comments.

Nature Club


The Nature Club of Sree Sankara College is dedicated to fostering environmental awareness, conservation, and sustainable living among students. The club aims to instill a sense of responsibility toward nature by organizing eco-friendly initiatives and activities that promote biodiversity conservation, waste management, and sustainable practices.
 
Objectives:
 
  • To create awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • To encourage eco-friendly practices among students and the community.
  • To organize tree plantation drives, clean-up campaigns, and biodiversity awareness programs.
  • To promote waste management, plastic-free initiatives.
